Wow! I can't believe that it's snowing already!! It's also really windy. Here's what I see from my window:
At least it's not accumulating out there!! :)
Last week was a pretty full week for someone who no longer has a job. :) On Monday, a carload of us went up to visit my aunt & uncle in Apple Valley, MN. On Tuesday, I visited a friend who recently had surgery. My mom & I watched our Pastor's 3 kids for a couple hours & then went out to Grandma's to visit with another aunt & uncle of mine until around midnight. We even got an encore Elvis presentation!! After leaving Grandma's, my mom, dad, & I went to Wal-Mart. We were there until about 2:00 AM! Wednesday morning, I slept until 11:00. That's the latest I have slept in for a very, very, very long time!! On Thursday afternoon I helped a couple friends decorate for their wedding reception. On Friday I pretty much did nothing. :) And today was the wedding. Here's a pic of the happy newlyweds:
I'm really excited for Monday because I am going to visit my friends Doug & Hannah to see their new baby son!!
Yeah, this unemployed stuff is really tough! I suppose one of these days I should make myself sit down & study again!! :)
Well, I just called & accepted the offer to work at camp for the rest of the year. It's only for Fridays & Saturdays. I'm so excited - I missed camp! :)
For my first bike ride since surgery I decided to go check out the progress on the new bike trail in Decorah. It's supposed to be a loop when it is all completed - hopefully next summer. Although the flood damage may delay those plans. It was such a beautiful day that I took my camera along. I even saw a couple deer running through town a short way away from Phelps Park!!
Along the bike trail
Creek by the fish hatchery
Dunning Springs
Up at Phelps Park
At Moe Park on the way back to Waukon.
I helped out at camp again this past weekend. I worked in the kitchen & we cooked for over 400, including staff. There were around 396 college students that came for the Navigators Weekend! Today I received a call from the lady in charge of the kitchen & she offered me a job working for the 4 or 5 retreats left this year. It would only be for the Fridays & Saturdays during these weekends. This is something that I'm prayerfully considering - I wanted to say yes right away but forced myself to take a couple days to decide for sure. It sure was a lot of fun meeting & getting to know new people! I just don't meet that many people sitting in my apartment studying!! :)
Here are the pictures of Elvis a.k.a. Uncle Larry. He even shaved his beard off this morning!
The fans...
This weekend I helped out in the kitchen at camp with a friend. There were about 150 - 160 colleges students there for Campus Crusade. It was a fun time, but also very exhausting! :) I didn't get any pics taken though. :( Hopefully I'll get some this weekend but I will probably be even more exhausted. They are supposed to have a little over 300 college students coming for the Navigators! Yikes!! I better get lots of rest this weekend.
Also, stay tuned for pictures of Elvis later in a couple of days. My uncle is going to be Elvis as the entertainment portion of the Christian Women's Club on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it!
