Surgery

The morning of August 7th I will be having surgery to straighten my toes. The doctor is able to do both feet at the same time & I will be able to walk around on them which is great! What I originally thought was just bunions is actually a misaligned bone for my big toe. The doctor will perform his magic & hopefully I will have straight toes! I have attached a before picture & I'm hoping that the after picture will be much improved. :) Please excuse the red eczema patches.

At the fair

I went to the fair today with a couple of friends. We went to the 4-H dog show which seemed to last forever. We went through the buildings & ate supper there but did not go on any rides. The best part was when we were walking back to one of my friends houses - we saw another friends dad selling cocker spaniel puppies. Of course we had to stop & play with the puppies! We even allowed her dad to go get something to eat. :)

Tough day

Today at work was a really hard day. We had a quarterly update meeting & in the past when they have had these meetings, it means someone is getting let go. Today the total was 6 & I am one of them. August 8th will be my last day with Savia Library Services. August 25th would have been my 11th year with the company. During that time we have gone through numerous changes - company name (4 different names) & multiple days where people that I had become good friends with had lost their jobs. After August 8th there will only be 11 employees left in the Caledonia office. I'm pretty scared about what is going to happen next for me. I was going to have surgery on my feet, which I would have had done one at a time. Now I am thinking about having them both done at the same time & spending 6 weeks in a wheelchair or not having it done until I find a new job with health insurance. It's sad thinking about all the people that I have become friends with there & I hope that we will all be able to stay in touch.

Weekend Fun

I started this blog at the request of a couple of friends - we'll see how it goes. :)

This weekend I spent a wonderful time with some friends. We don't get together as much as we'd like to but we have a great time when we do! This weekend we went to the zoo, an outlet mall in Wisconsin Dells and Buffalo Phil's for some good food. Thank you Renee for all the delicious food & having us over - you spoiled us quite well! :-)

Awesomeness

This spring I had a robin build a nest on the balcony of my apartment. It was really awesome to watch the 3 new lives that began there. The mother was very good at watching over her babies despite the incredibly cold spring that we had. The babies were ready to leave the nest within 2 weeks of hatching.
